An Introduction to Affiliate Marketing with DCC

Introduction to Affiliate Marketing

As a member of Domain Cost Club, you can take part in the affiliate program offered by the club. Are you new to affiliate marketing or unsure what it is?

Affiliate marketing is a marketing program where members, like DCC members, are rewarded for each referral who becomes a member. Affiliate marketing makes sense for many people because it’s a way to get paid for something you already do. When you like a product or service, you tell your friends, right? With affiliate marketing you get rewarded for those friends, or referrals, who decide to use that recommended product or service. Want to know how the affiliate program works for DCC? Below is our introduction to affiliate marketing for complete beginners and affiliate veterans who are simply new to DCC!

Referrals

As we said above, referrals are those people that you recommend DCC to, who then become members. To be counted as a referral, these people must sign up for a new membership. So how do you get credit for a referral? When you sign up with DCC, DCC will generate a page just like www.domaincostclub.com except it is your referal page. When you link to your referral page, people can sign up for the same DCC products you did, but now give you credit for the sign up.

Your Network

As you refer more people to DCC and they refer people, this begins to build your network. With affiliate marketing, you earn referral income from people you’ve directly referred as well as people they have referred. To imagine how this works, think of how people are connected to a network, you know someone directly, and they know someone, who knows two people, who knows more people. You’re not directly connected to those people that are on the far edge of your network, but you are connected through your own connections. How does this apply to earning commissions with DCC? It simply means that DCC rewards you for the people you share DCC with and then keeps rewarding you as the network of people you have referred continues to build out, even when you’re not directly referring anyone.

Matrix

The word matrix may sound a little overwhelming, but it’s actually a simple complex that helps to explain how your network makes you money.  A matrix is a way to organize those referrals we talked about so that everyone earns the most money possible. DCC uses a 4 x 7  matrix, with 7 being the number of levels in the network.  That means you will receive a commission for your referrals, their referrals, and theirs all the way down through 7 levels. These levels of people are often referred to as your downline.

So where does the 4 come in? Everyone’s first level is made up of 4 people, once you hit that 4, the next person spills down onto the next level, building your downline. The best part of spillover is that this means people will spill onto your downline as the person who referred you fills up their first line. That’s even more referral income, this time coming from the person who referred you!

Payouts

Payouts are the monthly or semimonthly way DCC gets you the commissions you earned off of your referrals and network. If you’re a club member, you can have your commissions paid out monthly. As a Lifetime Charter Member, your commissions can get paid more frequently at a semi-monthly plan.

Bonuses

On top of your commissions, you also have the chance to earn bonuses. For each person you refer, you not only earn commision but you earn a one time referral bounty. Learn about current bonuses here: https://www.domaincostclub.com/affiliates.dhtml

Affiliate marketing is an easy way to earn extra income for something you’re already doing. Decide if you want to be an affiliate and begin building extra income right away.

How to Use Twitter for Your Business

How to use Twitter for business BL

You may be wondering how to use Twitter for your business to actually see some measurable ROI. Well, Twitter is a great tool for business, but how you use it personally and how you use it for business should differ. Read on for the best ways to drive traffic and business using Twitter.

Your Profile

Like profiles for many online sites, think keywords. With just 160 characters, slightly longer than a tweet, your profile should be a place for keywords about your business, not your whole mission statement. What industry are you in? What do you specialize in? Include this information in your short profile to ensure your profile comes up in searches. There’s no need to include hashtags in your profile (though many people do) Twitter will identify the keywords in your profile, hashtag or not. Also important for keyword searches is your Twitter handle. Your handle is simply your username on Twitter. Twitter looks for keywords in usernames as well, so your username has an impact on who finds you or doesn’t.

Who You Follow

Follow people related to your business for two reasons. Reason number one, people may often click to see who you follow to learn more about you. If you follow a ton of random handles, it may be hard for people to figure out what you’re allow about. So follow a curated list of people related to your business. This curated list is reason number two why people you follow is important. Twitter is great in that easily allows you to share content from others in the form of a retweet. In a business account, you want what you share to be relevant your business So if you’re following the right curated list, you’ll see tweets related to your business and allow for a simple retweet related to your industry, no extra searching required.

What You Share

Separating personal views and business ideas on Twitter can be difficult. Unlike Facebook where you can use your personal profile to manage a professional page, Twitter doesn’t have that option. So be careful what you share. Consider having a personal Twitter and a business Twitter. Keep opinions and thoughts on your personal  account and news, links and relevant information on your business account.

Looking the Part

Have a logo? You should! Your logo is a great choice for a Twitter profile photo, this lets people know more about your business and shows you off as a legitimate business. If you don’t have a logo, consider a photo of yourself and share your role with the business in your profile so people can easily connect you and the business when they visit your profile. As for cover photos, use something relevant to your business and make sure it isn’t blurry. Twitter prefers large, high resolution photos for cover photos, so find one that fits and check it before saving.

Getting Statistics

Twitter offers two ways to get analytics. Want to know how  tweet is performing? Simply click on the graph icon below it to see impressions and engagement on the tweet. To see how your account is doing over time and learn more about your followers, visit analytics.Twitter.com.

How to Create Successful SEO for gTLDs

how to create successful SEO for gTLDs

Search engines like Google are very important to your website, because that’s how people will find you. Because of this, search engine optimization (SEO) is very important. SEO simply refers to tricks and tools you can use to ensure your website comes up within the first results for a specific term. SEO best practices are well documented for traditional TLDs like .com and .org, but do these same practices apply to the new gTLDs? Read on.

What You May Have Heard

As soon as new gTLDs came on the market, the myths about them started. One of these myths is that search engines like Google don’t index these gTLDs, making it impossible to come up in search results, let alone appear on the first page. The myth says that the reason for this is that these domains aren’t taken as seriously and can sometimes be host to junk sites. This myth and its reasoning are simply not true.

What Google Says

A quick search of reputable domain sites shows that gTLDs are not being (and never have been) left out of the search rankings and indexes. However, how Google treats these gTLDs exactly has been a bit of mystery, but that all ended just last week. As gTLDs increase in popularity, Google realized they need to make a statement about how they are treated by their search engine. In a blog post, Google confirmed that gTLDs will be treated just like .com, “Overall, our systems treat new gTLDs like other gTLDs (like .com & .org).” Google also clarified how keywords found in a gTLD affect your search rankings, indicating that all TLDs will be treated the same and that keywords in gTLDs will not improve search rankings, “Keywords in a TLD do not give any advantage or disadvantage in search.” Google also shared that it is possible to move your site from a .com to a new gTLD and not lose your searching ranking and and SEO. Visit the full blog post to learn how to do this–this can come in handy as you move to your new gTLD.

What This Means for You

This is all great news! At first glance you may be worried that the keyword in your .gTLD won’t directly impact your search ranking, but this is good news. The key is that Google will treat your new gTLD just like a .com when it comes to search. With gTLDs, you’re paying much less for your domain and still getting the same treatment from the most popular search engine. You can save money and still come up tops in search. And remember, although your “key-worded” gTLD won’t impact your ranking, your keyword gTLDs are still a great branding opportunity–so when your site comes up high in search results, people will remembers your website address.

The new gTLDs, though they look different, work just like more traditional .coms. Huge companies like Google realize the power of these gTLDs and treat them no different than more expensive domains. With Google taking the lead, more companies will realize the need to move forward with and highlight gTLDs. This is why it’s important for businesses to focus on how to create successful SEO for gTLDs.

4 Habits of Successful Marketers

Habits of Successful Marketers

If you’re trying to connect with many potential customers at once, you’re participating in a form of marketing. There’s no need to get overwhelmed by the word “marketing” or “marketer,” it’s actually a part of business that comes naturally to most people. Getting the word out about your business is marketing. But of course, not all marketing is successful. Below are four habits of successful marketers which will help you take the next step from getting the word out about your business to actually marketing your business successfully.

They Understand Their Audience

Top marketers understand their audience and who they are. Who is your audience? Your audience is anyone you’re trying to promote your business or services to. It may be easy to say you’re trying to promote to anyone and everyone because you want you business to grow, but this type of unfocused promotion is not helpful. Really think about who would benefit most from your business and services and who would be most likely to buy in. This is your audience. Now that you know your audience, it’s much easier to promote to them. Tailor your message to these people, craft your brand in a way that would appeal to most to them, ask them how they feel about your product. Your understanding of your audience helps guide your marketing and your business.

They Speak Simply

Much of marketing is communications. It’s emails, newsletters, the text on your website. With all these words floating around promoting your business, it’s important to keep them simple. Explain your business simply, do not try to build it up or mislead your customers. Keep your sentences short and to the point. Top marketers don’t use flowery languages to try to get you to buy their product, they get to the point of what they have to offer and let the customer decide. Try to do the same with your business.

They Get to the Point

Slightly different than speaking simply is getting to the point. Why are you sending an email, sharing a Facebook post of writing a blog update? Share the point of this new information with your audience right away. Are you launching a new product, have a new team member or slashing prices? Get to the point of the information you’re sharing in the first sentence if possible. This way customers don’t get lost in meandering paragraph of text only to miss the point of your piece.

They Respect Your Time

Top marketers respect your time–they know everyone is busy. These marketers share only what is relevant and what will be helpful for you. Their emails are short, their updates share key points and they respect that you have a job to do too. This is especially true if you’re an affiliate marketer. Chances are that most of the people you’re working with have very busy schedules and just do marketing on the side, try to respect their time by keep updates quick, and to the point and allowing them the freedom to do work when best fits their schedule.

Successful marketers usually have a natural inkling, but most skills are learned and practiced. Try simplifying your approach and just working on the four skills above. As you get more comfortable, try out new tactics!

Which Social Media Sites Should You Be Marketing On?

What social media sites should you be marketing on BL

Social media is great for marketing your business or building your network. But with so many options, it’s hard to know which site you should be utilizing for your marketing efforts. Different social sites speak to different audiences, in different ways, and what works for one social media site may not work for another.

So, which social media sites should YOU be marketing on? We break them down for you below.

Facebook

Facebook was originally a friendship based networking site. When Facebook was launched over 10 years ago, it was service to connect college students. Now it’s open to anyone in the world and has over 1 billion users. While Facebook is still friendship based, it is increasingly business friendly. One big reason to be on Facebook is the sheer number of users. Most people you know or want to connect with are already on Facebook. While promoting your business on Facebook can sometimes be tricky (people can easily hide what they don’t want to see) the sheer number of people on the network make it a smart choice to do some marketing.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn was built for business, advancing in your career, and making business connections. Because of these reasons, it makes sense for you to market and build your network on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a fast growing social media network, but still has far fewer users than Facebook. Also users do not log in to LinkedIn or access their page as frequently as they visit Facebook. Use LinkedIn to build a strong network, but know your marketing may not be seen by as many people as content on Facebook will be.

Twitter

Twitter has nearly 300 million monthly users and the best part is that you don’t have to be friends with them or have an established connection for them to see your marketing content. Thanks to the 140 character limit and a fast moving feed, Twitter takes minimal time investment. Twitter is a great place to market your business and test strategies. One tip: Do research into the right hashtags to make sure your content is seen by the most people.

Instagram

If your business is photo-friendly, Instagram is a great choice. This increasingly popular network relies on hashtags just like Twitter in order for users to find content. Photo-friendly businesses like hair salons, doggie daycare, or travel services thrive on Instagram. If your company isn’t photo-friendly try to get creative in your use of Instagram. Motivational quotes over a fun background are often popular on Instagram and can relate to many business areas. Think of ways they can apply to you.

Google+

You may have heard that Google+ is dead, and that may be partially true. But thanks to the popularity and dominance of the Google search engine, it’s still important for your business to be on Google+. To market on Google+, make sure your page has all the important business information like address, hours, and even some photos. Direct your customers to leave reviews on Google+ as well. This way, when someone searches for your business or a business service like yours, your results will be favored by Google and appear higher up on the search results.

5 Email Marketing Content Ideas for Domains

Email Marketing Content Ideas

Email marketing is a great way to connect with your customers and potential customers. Done right, email marketing can be cost effective and reach the right people. Email marketing is also a great tool for the domain world. By communicating with your customers and potential customers through email, you’ve already got one piece of the puzzle figured out–your potential clients are already online and connected. Below we share some tips for email marketing for the domain world, but before you read on, remember the double opt-in requirement for sending marketing emails. People you send this type of email to must agree to receive them using a double opt-in system. This means they submit their email address first to receive them, and then using a confirmation link or manually responding to an email you send, they confirm that they do, in fact, want to receive emails. Not adhering to these rules can get your emails quickly marked as spam, and make your email marketing campaign a waste of time.

An important part of any marketing campaign is good content. But what makes good content for the domain world? Read on for some email marketing content ideas for domains.

News

DCC offers many new gTLDs. These gTLDs are released at different times and often have special pricing associated with their release. Use your emails to tell people about these new releases, as well as what domains will be released soon. DCC offers news of these releases and a quick internet search can give you an idea of more domains that will be available for purchase soon.

Pricing

A big question any one has before buying  a product, and in this case a domain, is, how much does it cost? Your first inkling may be to hold back pricing information on the domains in your portfolio until a customer becomes serious, but this can turn people off. DCC offers up-front at-cost pricing on there website, which drives interest and lets people know more about the industry they may be joining. Consider taking this same approach with your emails. Highlight the prices of your domains or those offered through DCC, including specials, inexpensive domains, and popular domains.

Ideas

gTLDs give you a lot of room for branding and creative use. Get people interested in fun gTLDs by offering them ideas on how to use them. Even better, tailor your email information on domains based on what you know about people. Know an accountant? Email them about the pricing of .accountant. Know someone in digital marketing? Why not tell them about .digital or .social? Share ideas to get others interested.

Your Experience

How did you get into domain sales? What have you learned along the way? Take the time to tell others about your experience and tricks of the trade. This makes domaining seems less intimidating and lets others know that you’re available for support.

Encouragement

Every now and then, consider sending a note to encourage others in their business or domain sales. These emails can be a simple as a powerful quote, or a note from you, sharing your recent successes and how others can achieve the same.

How to Choose the Right Social Network for Marketing

How to Choose the Right Social Network for Marketing

Using social media for marketing is a smart choice. Social media is free, ubiquitous and reaches many people at once. However, with what seems like a new social network popping up each and every day, how do you know which networks are worth marketing on and which are a waste of time? Read on for some helpful criteria when considering how to choose the right social network for marketing based on your needs.

Audience

Before you find out the demographics of the audience of a social network, you first need to think about the demographics of the people you are selling to. Are your potential customers teenagers? Young professionals? Or maybe retirees? You can find out by doing a quick survey of who you are already doing business with–no need to ask, just go with what information you already know–or by identifying who the ideal person is for your product.

Now that you have that information, check it against the demographics for specific social networks. Some searches online can identify that Twitter tends to have a younger demographic than Facebook, whereas LinkedIn is for more business-minded people. You can find case studies and information of the demographics of many social networks online, but also remember there are exceptions to the rule and some audiences aren’t what you think. Increasingly across many social networks, the fastest growing user population is baby boomers, not the first group you might think of when it comes to social media. In short, identify your customer base and then find the social network that matches up with them.

Media

Different social networks rely on media in different ways. Facebook posts are easy to skip over when there’s no image, Twitter posts can go far with just text and Instagram posts rely on image only. Consider what media you have to share when choosing a network. If you have lots of imagery, consider Facebook or Instagram. If you don’t have images or don’t have the time to find them, Twitter may be a better fit. Love marketing with video? Sounds like YouTube may be the best place for you.

Frequency

How much time do you have for social media marketing and how frequently can you post? Consider this before you a choose a network. Twitter streams and updates move so fast that if someone visits your profile and sees you haven’t tweeted in a week, they may think you’re not using your account very much and are unresponsive. However, weekly posts on Facebook may be just the right amount. YouTube is a great network if you can only post monthly, because a high quality video monthly is better than a poorly edited one more frequently. Also networks with the ability subscribe to channels, like YouTube, put less pressure to update frequently. With subscription, no matter how often you update, your followers will be notified.

Skills

Social networks like Instagram and YouTube can require some special skills, like video editing and photography. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are open to a variety of skill levels and allow for easy access. Consider what skills you have and what you might need to be successful on a network before joining. Once you make a presence on a network and have a following, you want to keep your content consistent and of quality, so make sure you choose the right network(s) for you audience, media, time and skill level.

How to Use Twitter for Marketing

How To use twitter for marketing

Twitter can be a powerful tool for marketing. Although 140 characters can limit some of your ideas, it forces you to be more creative and more to the point. Twitter is a basic, no frills social network because of its character limit, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have much to offer. Read on to learn how to use Twitter for marketing  and how you can use some of their best features to your advantage for business.

Lists

Following people on Twitter allows you to see what they have to say as well as encourage a follow-back to improve your follower numbers. But if you follow too many people, it can be hard to see the information you want. You don’t have to stop following people, but you do have to start using Lists to curate information you want. Lists allow you to sort people you follow by interest, topics, customers, etc. After your add one or multiple accounts to a list, you can then click on that list to view only the tweets from people on that list. You also have the option of making lists private or public. Public lists allow others to subscribe to them and can be a good way to build your presence on Twitter. Consider adding accounts to an interest list like “marketers” and others may follow. Private lists are better for things you might not want to people to know, like if you’re adding accounts to a “Potential Customers” list.

Hashtags

While lists help you to sort users on Twitter, hashtags help you to sort content. Hashtags can also help to get your tweets seen by more users than just those who follow you. Consider hashtags to be like a keyword in a search. People can type #internetmarketing into Twitter search bar and see accounts and tweets that use that term. Similarly, you can use that or any hashtag in your own content to ensure you get seen when people do a search. Try out a few hashtags for their popularity before you use them. Search a hashtag on Twitter to see how frequently people use it. This will give you an idea of the conversation going on around that hashtag and the level of interest in it.

Video

Videos from YouTube now play in steam on Twitter. What this means is that people don’t have to leave Twitter to watch a YouTube video you share. They can simply click play and the video will play right on Twitter. This is great for you because if you post a video, it keeps them on your profile and encourages them to share your tweet. Consider adding your own tutorial and promotional videos to your tweets to use this feature.

Photos

Like Facebook, photos make a post more powerful. In the old days of Twitter, you could only link to an outside service to show a photo, now photos show right in steam. Always try to include a photo with your tweet when you can, it will drive interest and make your account seem more professional.

5 Ways to Market Your Domain for Sale or Use

market your domain

Now that you’ve purchased your domain(s) through DCC, how do you plan to use it? Your domain is an investment, no matter if you’re using it for your own business or planning to sell it for a profit. Read on for ways to market your domain, whether you plan to sell the domain or use it, and get a return on your investment.

Domains For Sale:

Email Marketing

Email marketing is a great way to share that you have a collection of domain names for sale. Email marketing should be conversational and to the point. You’re not trying to make a sale, you’re trying to make a connection and tout the benefits of your domain.

Before you start emailing, remember that email marketing requires a double opt in before you can reach out to someone by email. That means someone needs to sign up to receive emails from you and then confirm they would like to receive these emails and their signup was not a mistake. This can be accomplished with a contact form on your website where visitors can sign up with their email. As you get their emails, send them a note to ensure they want to be subscribed. Then its up to you to market and share why others should be interested in investing in your domains.

Social Media

Social media is great place to promote your domains because people who will see you promotion are already online and browsing. You should promote on social media just how important it is to have a branded domain or share how much income you’re building with domain sales. Make your social media posts fun, but informative and don’t post so frequently that others grow weary of the information. Also, consider creating your own Facebook and Twitter account for your domain promotion, that way, you know that the people that fan or follow you are truly interested in the domain world.

Referrals
DCC offers great pricing on our domains through our membership offerings. As soon as you become a DCC member, you have access to at-cost pricing, which means you pay what we pay for domains. This kind of pricing makes DCC the right choice for many people, including people you already know. So consider sharing DCC with your network and each time someone you referred becomes a member, you will earn between $25 and $200.

Domains For Use:

Content Marketing

If you’ve purchased a domain to use for your own business, content marketing is an effective way to establish your business and promote your website. Content marketing is when you produce great content in the form of blogs, videos, and photos, and share them to drive people to your website. Consider creating a blog to go with your business website that talks about best practices within your industry. Or create videos that promote “how to’s” within your industry. These are powerful ways to offer people something for free to drive them to your website and then share your business with them .

Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization or SEO is important for driving traffic to your website. This means doing research on sites like Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find out what words or phrases are popular in your industry. Once you find these phases, use them in your content marketing. To really get the most out of your SEO use these popular words and phrases in your actual domain name. Like beach.vacations or investing.money. The right keywords will market your site without you having to actively do so.
